The reviews are in, and “Into the Woods…” was a hit! This weekend’s three performances and fourth matinee drew rave reviews from theatergoers young and old. The heartwarming story of several characters in search of family and belonging was a star making turn for several Hudson Catholic Students. In attendance on Opening Night was the Director of Admissions for The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
As a result of their work in “Into the Woods…” the following Hudson Catholic Students were accepted directly into The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts’ two year degree program with academic scholarships!
Ashley Batista- $10,000 per year
Alex Mejia- $15,000 per year
Alejandro Diaz ‘26- $10,000 per year.
Although he is only in 10th grade (rising junior), Alejandro has already been accepted and granted a scholarship when he graduates in 2026. Alejandro has been in three Hawk Drama Society productions and is strongly considering accepting the offer at the end of this year. “I’m really considering the offer, it's a great opportunity,” said Alejandro. “I am looking forward to it but I want to make sure that it's not only good for me now but also in my future.”
In addition to the students who were directly granted admission, the following Hudson Catholic Students were also each offered $1,000.00 scholarships to their 4 week Acting Intensive in New York City:
Krystal Council ‘26
Peyton Morgan ‘24
Olivia Morgan ‘24
Julia Ortiz ‘25
Jadyra Amaya Garcia ‘26
The news is especially exciting for Krystal and Olivia who were making their on stage debuts in “Into the Woods…”
“It was exciting and nerve wracking at the same time and I’m so grateful and I’m excited to become more involved with the Hawk Drama Society,” said Olivia who played the Baker’s Wife.
For Krystal, it was her first starring role, although she has been involved in Hawk Drama Society before. “It's a blessing to take on a larger role,”said Krystal, who played Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk . “It was really rewarding to have my own solo and to get a huge ovation.” Krystal will be attending the camp this summer and is excited about the opportunity. “Its a good way for me to learn more and get better at expressing myself and having more confidence on stage,” she said. Olivia will hold her scholarship until next year. She is already busy this summer with plans to attend the Congress of Future Medical Leaders at UMASS Lowell and Stevens Summer Institute for STEM during her time off from school.
Congratulations to all the students involved!
