Hudson Catholic High School has hired Carlos Guzman as the Varsity Baseball Coach. Guzman is a former professional baseball player with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers and is currently the owner and head instructor at Hot Korner Sports in Lyndhurst. Said Guzman, “There’s a tradition Hudson Catholic. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime that I couldn’t pass up. As soon as I learned the position was open, I reached out to interview.” Said Hudson Catholic Athletic Director, Nick Mariniello, “I’m excited to have Coach Guzman work with our young people. His professional and college experience has helped him develop a very high baseball IQ. I’m impressed with his passion for coaching young people, which really stood out during the interview process.” Guzman said, “I bring experience. I bring professionalism. I am also relatable to students at Hudson Catholic. I grew up in Brooklyn and went to high school in Queens, NY. I’m an inner-city kid. We will have fun, baseball needs to be fun, and we will do things the right way and with class. I have high expectations. We will win, but we know that it’s a process. The goal is to make sure that these young men leave as better baseball players and better men. Winning will be there because of all the other things we do as part of our process.”
